Here in SHC, we do not allow selling of hamsters. Hence you are not allowed to sell or exchange your hamsters for any form of material items such as money, food or accessories etc.

If you are giving away your hamsters, please do screen the adoptors properly before giving up your hamsters to them. Do read their introduction and do a search on the forums to find out more about the person. Be sure that they are knowledgeable and responsible enough, else you are putting your hamters in great danger!

Some guidelines would be:

• Make sure that they have a good introduction in the fourm
  
• Make ensure that they did not request via Private message. This allowed other regular members in helping the screening process.
  
• They have the basic knowledge in keeping a hamster
  
• Their family members do not object them from keeping a hamster
  
• Their family members or them are not allergic to fury animal
  
• They have the finanicial means in keeping a hamster
  
• They have the time to play with the hamster
  
• They have enough space and not overcrowding the hamster
  
• They are not using the hamsters as breeding machine
  
• They do not sell away the hamsters after adopting
  
• Do not give away different gender in pairs

Remember to update your thread with who is the eventual adopter after your final decision.
Contact and pick up info can be done via Private message (PM) after your decision.

Screen properly, or you are sending your hamsters to their death!

Other Things to take note:
1) MAKE SURE INTERESTED ADOPTERS POST THEIR INTEREST IN YOUR ADOPTION THREAD.- the Private Messages (PM) with their details can always be given to you later after posting their interest in the adoption threads.
Reason: Long time members on this forum can help you to screen through these interested parties. Of cos, you'll have the final say since it is/ they are your hamsters.

2) IGNORE THOSE WHO EXPRESS THEIR INTEREST IN ADOPTING IF THEY CONTACT YOU PRIVATELY VIA PM
Reason: These people may have things to hide for not willing to identify themselves on the adoption threads (eg. afraid to let members see that they have been mass adopting, don't want members to point out their past records, etc.)

3) UPDATE YOUR THREAD WITH WHO IS THE EVENTUAL ADOPTER
Reason: This will help this forum to monitor who has gotten the adoptions. A person who has expressed interest on 10 different adoption threads may well only be an eventual adopter for once. The members here can know this if you do your part to let us know who eventually adopted your hamster(s).

4) PLEASE DO NOT GIVE AWAY DIFFERENT GENDER IN PAIRS! ONLY ALLOW 1 HAMSTER PER ADOPTER.
Reason: So as to prevent inbreeding/mass breeding, turning the hamsters into breeding machines.

5) PROVIDE AS MANY INFORMATION AS YOU CAN (eg. AGE, HEALTH CONDITION, CHARACTERISTIC), WITH A CLEAR PICTURE TO SHOW THE COLOUR AND BREED.
Reason: To ensure the adopter know what type of hamsters they are going to take in. As some adopter go for certain breed/age/looks, without these information, adopter might feel that your hamster aren't what they are looking for after they bring the hamster back home. So by providing clear information about your hamster before giving them away can prevent later on abandonment.
