Although there isn't a hamster neck cone, but we can DIY one for hamster who is recovering from surgery. But depending on the size of your hamster, such cones would be more effective for larger hamsters like Syrians or maybe even larger campbell's hamsters. The neck cone restrains the hamster from licking or bitting on the surgery site. The hamster's head movement is restricted, so it cannot reach it's body. The neck cone doesn't hurt the hamster if done properly, and keeps it safe during recovery.
Identification
A neck cone looks like a lamp shade. The smaller end is around the hamster neck, while the larger end flares out around the hamster's face, extending a few inches past the end of their nose. They can be made of clear, colored or patterned flexible plastic.
Benefits
When a hamster wears a neck cone, it is not able to lick or bite on itself. If the hamster has an injury, or is healing from a surgery or rash, a neck cone will allow the hamster to heal without bothering the wound area. The use of a neck cone will facilitate a speedy recovery for the hamster.
Effects
When a hamster wears a neck cone, it looks very silly. However, the use of a neck cone is a great way to allow your hamster to heal without interfering with the process.
Feeding a hamster that needs to wear a neck cone can be tricky. You may remove the neck cone for a brief time so the hamster can eat and drink.
